ECBL: Wayne Country Day opens season with win over So. Wayne

DUDLEY -- Wayne Country Day launched its Eastern Carolina Baseball League season with a 12-5 conquest of Southern Wayne at the Doyle Whitfield Athletic Complex on Tuesday evening.
Nick Neal paced the WCDS offense with three hits and emerged as the winning pitcher. The lanky right-hander held the Saints to one hit and logged five strikeouts in a three-inning stint.
Mitch Turnage, Boone Moodey and John Strickland combined for four innings of eight-hit, four-strikeout relief.
Turnage (two RBI) and Drew Barnes (two RBI) provided two hits apiece for WCDS. Hunter Burt (RBI), Parker Smith (RBI), Hayden Amodeo (RBI), Ethan Chapin (RBI), Jack Talton and Jaxon Anderson provided one hit apiece.
Moody supplied an RBI.
Wayne Country Day (1-0 overall) entertains Eastern Wayne today. First pitch is 5 p.m.
