Joel Davis knew it was over once he was asked the question.
His teammate Victor Miller needed someone to feed him passes in the three-point contest.
"Once he asked me to pass for him I knew he was going to win," Davis said. "We just click like that. I know where he wants the pass to be."
In a contest that is often considered to be one of the less exciting festivities of an all-star game, Miller wowed everyone as he knocked down 31 three-pointers in two minutes and blew away the competition as the winner of the first annual Wayne County All-Star Classic three-point contest.
"I've been in the gym everyday working on my shot," Miller said. "I know not a lot of people knew about me as a shooter but I showed today that I am a shooter."
In second was Goldsboro senior Rasheen Artis with 20 and Rosewood's Kyi Hawkins finished third knocking down 19 threes.
Artis entered the pre-game meeting and asked Chris Roberts why he wasn't in the three-point shooting contest.
Not many people consider Artis to be among the sharpshooters in Wayne County.
But Artis insisted.
"I've been working on my shot," Artis said.
He responded by being the leader until the last shooter of the competition, Miller, stepped up to the line.
Rounding out the contest was Montrell Plummer (18), Blake Poland (17), Brandon Gonzalez (16), and Gary Williams (15).
