UMO's Justice hurls 136-pitch, complete-game outing

MOUNT OLIVE -- Derek Justice threw 136 pitches in a complete-game performance, and No. 2-ranked University of Mount Olive defeated Barton, 6-2, to avoid a three-game Conference Carolinas sweep Sunday afternoon.
The Bulldogs won the first two games 5-3 and 12-3.
Justice (4-0) limited BC to three infield singles and finished with a five-hitter. He sat down eight Bulldog batters on strikeouts.
Zak Orrison batted 3 for 5 and swiped three bases in the game three victory. He is now 17 for 17 in stolen-base attempts on the season. Kilgore Gailmard (two RBI), Jason Morozowski (RBI) and designated hitter Joe Koehler (two RBI) provided two hits apiece.
Justin Manning went 1 for 3.
UMO head coach Carl Lancaster picked up career win No. 997.
The Trojans (18-6 overall) face No. 12-ranked Franklin Pierce on back-to-back days. The teams play Tuesday at the USA National Baseball Training Complex in Cary and at Scarborough Field on Wednesday.
