* Boys' basketball: Wayne Country Day 77, Wayne Christian 43 -- John Strickland led three Chargers with double figures with 17 points in a non-conference triumph over the Eagles. DJ Waters and Jack Talton knocked down 14 and 13 points, respectively. Wayne Christian's Austin Kornegay torched the nets for a game-high 25 points. WCDS (5-0 overall) visits Freedom Christian on Thursday.
Middle schools
* Girls' basketball: Grantham 30, Norwayne 23 -- Alexus Elliott scored nine points as the Bulldogs triumphed in Wayne County Middle School Athletic Conference action. Erykah Baldwin dropped in eight points. Norwayne's Kania Slocum led all scorers with 10 points. Grantham is 4-2 overall and plays Eastern Wayne Friday.
* Boys' basketball: Wayne Country Day 44, Wayne Christian 33 -- Sam Dively emerged as the Chargers' top scorer with 17 points. Teammate Nehemiya Shaw contributed 11 points. Will White led Wayne Christian with 15 points. Wayne Country Day (7-2 overall) is the guest of Freedom Christian today.
