PEMBROKE -- JaQuan Blount dumped in a career-high 21 points as No. 9-ranked University of Mount Olive dropped an 86-74, non-conference decision to in-state rival UNC Pembroke on Monday evening.

The loss snapped the Trojans' school-record nine-game win streak.

Blount, a JUCO transfer, dished out two assists and pulled down a pair of rebounds. Jordan McCain just missed a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds. Kendall Hargrove had 12 points and eight boards.

Sophomore Mike Moore scored 10 points.

The Braves, of the Peach Belt Conference, had four players reach double figures including Charles B. Aycock alum Brandon Winford with 12 points. Princeton alum Ben Jacobs had eight points, four rebounds and played 28 minutes despite foul trouble.

Ranked No. 6 in the latest NCAA Division II Southeast Region poll, UNCP led 49-44 at halftime. The Trojans, who entered the game as the region's No. 1-ranked team, pulled to within 63-60 on Hargrove's dunk.

Pembroke stopped the rally and built as much as a 12-point lead. The Braves ended the game with five consecutive made free throws.

Mount Olive (9-1 overall) returns home Wednesday for a non-conference game against South Atlantic Conference member Wingate, which is No. 7 in the Southeast Region. Tip-off is 7 p.m. at Kornegay Arena.
