* Boys' basketball: Goldsboro Heat 62, Lighthouse Eagles 35 -- Gavin Portela just missed a double-double with 23 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Harman Kaler contributed 13 points and six rebounds. Goldsboro (5-4 overall) entertains Durham Flight on Tuesday in Kinston.
Middle schools
* Boys' basketball: Goldsboro Heat 32, Lighthouse Eagles 16 -- Benson Jones emerged as the Heat's top scorer with 10 points. He added five steals and four assists. Luke Parks contributed 10 points and five rebounds. Ben Daniels picked the Eagles for seven steals. Goldsboro (2-5 overall) plays host to Durham Flight on Tuesday in Kinston.
* Boys' basketball: Grantham 48, Dillard 36 -- Jamal King paced the Bulldogs' offense with a game-high 30 points. DeAndre Weight supplied 13 points, while Justin Edwards knocked down five points. Grantham improved to 2-1 overall this season.
