ROCKY MOUNT -- Charles B. Aycock sophomore Joshua Wallace seized the 152-pound championship during the Grant Wilder Wilson Invitational wrestled at Rocky Mount Senior High.
Zack Howard (132) and Jarrett Paynter (180) each placed second. Teammate Jacob Dickenson recorded a third-place finish at 126 pounds.
"Overall, I am very pleased with the team," said CBA head coach Ronnie Allen, whose squad collected 105.5 points -- good enough for sixth overall in the 12-team field.
"They went out today and gave it all they had. We had several others make it into the semifinals. Last year we had wrestlers (go) out in the first few rounds of the tournament, (but) this year many more made it through which made for a very busy day.
"That just shows the improvement that these young me have made since last year."
