Local swimmers fare well in Goldsboro Y pool

Eastern Wayne's quartet of Faith Boyette, Sophie Zou, Tricia Malcolm and Brianna Applegarth touched the wall second in 2 minutes, 24.08 seconds during the 200-yard medley relay on Tuesday evening.

Goldsboro's foursome of Kaylee Lyon, Matti Lyon, Anna Prezbindowski and Megan Huston took third. Wayne Country Day's Abby Skinner, Olivia Dively, Alison Bailey and Kate Thompson ended up fifth.

Charles B. Aycock's Abby Sauls posted a regional-qualifying time of 2:08.19 in the 200 free.

Prezbindowski was second in the 200 individual medley (IM) with a time of 3:02.08 and fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:30.61). Applegarth and Matti Lyon wound up third and fourth, respectively, in the 50 free. WCDS' Alison Bailey was fifth.

Malcolm was second in the 100 free.

Applegarth placed second in the 500 free.

The Cougars' quartet of Kaylee and Matti Loyn, Prezbindowski and Huston took second in the 200 free relayn (2:10.25). Aycock's foursome of Isabelle Boulanger, Taylor Ellis, Michaleh Robinson and Sauls was third. WCDS and Eastern Wayne won fourth and sixth, respectively.

Sauls won the 100 breaststroke in 1:19.86.

Goldsboro's Olivia Paul was second in the 100-yard backstroke. Rosewood's Riley Barber took third, followed by the Cougars' Huston.

Eastern Wayne secured third in the 400 free relay.

WCDS' Payton Meadows and Rosewood's Macy Tyndall placed second and third, respectively, in 1-meter diving.

On the boys' side, C.B. Aycock's foursome of Zech Chastain, Colton Marley, Charlie Robertson and Chas Hooks captured second in the 200 medley relay in 2 minutes. Eastern Wayne's team of Bradley Makdad, Zach Evans, Ryan Fleming and Will Samson ended up third in 2:06.86. They were followed by Southern Wayne's Austin Edgecomb, Jalen Williams, Myles Davis and Cullen Grantham who placed fourth in 2:20.25.

Chastain won the 200 free in 1:59.1, followed by Rosewood's Kodey Silknitter in 2:00.76. Each time eclipsed the regional standard qualifying time set by the N.C. High School Athletic Association.

Makdad secured first in the 200 IM in 2:26.05 and logged a regional-qualifying mark of 1:03.13 in the 100 backstroke. Fleming posted a third-place time (26.46) in the 50 free. CBA's Charlie Robertson was fourth in 26:65.

Rosewood's Wes Chandler finished runner-up in the 100 fly (1:20.32), while Nathan Rigdon of WCDS placed third in 1:23.38. The duo was followed by Southern Wayne's Brandan Murray-Cruz and Jalen Williams.

The Saints' Austin Edgecomb captured the 100 free in 56.89 seconds, followed by EW's Will Samson (1:00.9). Aycock's Chas Hooks (1:04.76) and Goldsboro's Vincent Spagnuolo took fourth and fifth, respectively.

WCDS' Zan Pittman and Rosewood's Kodey Silknitter collected first and second, respectively, in the 500 free. Southern Wayne's Miles Davis finished.

The Golden Falcons' Hooks, Cody Freels, Robertson and Zech Chastain seized first in the 200 free in 1:47.68. Chastain posted a first-place time of 1:10.12 in the 100 breaststroke.

Rosewood's foursome of Ira Dalton, Joseph Morris, Wes Chandler and Silknitter took the 400 free relay in 4:10.38. The Warriors' Noah Bernard, Samson, Fleming and Makdad placed second in 4:21.15.
