VANCEBORO -- Eastern Wayne trailed by double digits early in the opening half and couldn't recover in a season-opening, 91-80 loss to West Craven.
"I thought we played well with what we had," EW head coach Chris Roberts said. "We started running out of bodies when we got in foul trouble."
Blake Poland paced the Warriors' offense with 26 points, six assists and four steals. Zeke Martin logged a double-double (18 points, 12 rebounds). Jeremiah Miller chipped in 10 points.
Eastern Wayne (0-1 overall) entertains North Lenoir on Monday.
