Preps digest: JV, middle schools

JV

* Girls' basketball: Wayne Country Day 16, Rocky Mount Academy 13 -- Lexi Jeffreys scored five points for the Chargers. Teammates Langley Barnes and Destiny Williams knocked down four points apiece. WCDS (2-0 overall) visits Wilson Christian on Thursday.

* Boys' basketball: Wayne Country Day 61, Rocky Mount Academy 42 -- The Chargers' DJ Waters torched the nets for a game-high 26 points. PJ Hill dropped in 10 points, while Marcus Metcalf collected nine points. WCDS (1-0 overall) faces Northwood Temple next Monday.

Middle schools

* Girls' basketball: Greenfield 11, Wayne Christian 6 -- The Eagles' Madison Wells scored four points, while teammate Beverly Tabe contributed two points. Wayne Christian (2-1 overall) visits Greenfield next Monday.

* Boys' basketball: Wayne Country Day 25, Rocky Mount Academy 19 -- Sam Dively paced the Chargers' offense with 12 points. Drew Barnes chipped in five points. WCDS (1-1 overall) entertains Oakwood today.
