Preps digest: JV, middle schools

* Football: DH Conley 28, Eastern Wayne 12 -- Malyk Williams had a 34-yard touchdown run, but the Warriors fell to DH Conley 28-12 on Thursday. Juwan Holmes caught a 12-yard touchdown from Williams. Williams finished with 128 yards on 18 carries and tied for the team lead with seven tackles with Leslie Swinson.
* Football: Ayden-Grifton 42, Goldsboro 36 (2 OTs) -- Aaron Smith led the Cougars' ground attack with 171 yards and two TDs on 16 carries. Jameel Larkins contributed 40 yards and a touchdown on just five carries.
Jacob Owens reeled in seven catches for 146 yards and two TDs.
Goldsboro visits North Lenoir next Thursday.
Middle schools
* Football: Dillard 46, Brogden 0 -- Xzavier Bowden rushed for touchdowns of 60 and 30 yards, and hauled in a 25-yard TD pass. Tavian Jackson and Naz'Jelle Wooten reach rushed for a touchdown, while Elijah Hinnant returned the opening kickoff 65 yards to the house. The Tigers made five of six 2-point conversions. Leonard Winstead and Raekwon Hart led the Dillard defense with five tackles apiece. The Tigers (6-0 overall) conclude regular-season play at home next Thursday against Mount Olive Middle.
* Football: Spring Creek 34, Rosewood 6 -- Landon Smothers ran for a score and returned a blocked punt for a touchdown in Spring Creek's 34-6 triumph over Rosewood on Thursday. Javon Newsome scored from 44 yards out. Dominique Morse and Isaiah Gray also had rushing touchdowns. The Gators (6-1 overall) conclude regular-season play at home against Grantham next Thursday.
* Volleyball: Spring Creek d. Eastern Wayne 25-17, 25-21, 25-16 -- Emily Dupuy, Madison Sullivan and Kayla Herring led the Gators' offense. Spring Creek (7-5 overall, 4-4 WCMSAC Division I) travels to Brogden on Monday.
* Boys' soccer: Rosewood 3, Dillard 0 -- Geovanni Abril punched in two goals and DeVante Phillips added one goal in the Eagles' regular-season finale. Logan Mitchell logged three assists. Logan Price, Seth Wiggins, Jacob Smith and Carson Hatem shut Dillard down on defense. Rosewood finished the year 10-3-0 overall.
* Football: Dillard 46, Brogden 0 -- Xzavier Bowden scored three times to lead Dillard past Brogden 46-0 on Thursday. Tavian Jackson, Naz'Jelle Wooten and Elijah Hinnant each found the end zone for Dillard. Dillard (6-0) will host Mount Olive on Thursday in the season finale.
* Boys' soccer: Spring Creek 8, Eastern Wayne 2 -- Jose Reynaga and Ramrio Castaneda each scored two goals. Marquise Newell, Augustin Sequina, Joseph Lebron and Josue Palacios supplied one goal apiece. The Gators (8-4-0 overall) conclude regular-season play Monday at Brogden.
