1A volleyball: Princeton ousts Perquimans in 3rd round

HERTFORD -- Princeton advanced to the eastern semifinals for the fourth consecutive year with a four-set triumph over Perquimans in the N.C. High School Athletic Association 1-A volleyball playoffs Thursday evening.
Taylor Carroll recorded 15 kills and eight digs, while Kasey Edwards contributed 14 kills, six blocks and three digs. Emily Ricks added seven kills and served two aces. Charley Cox handed out 47 assists. Hailey Wood just missed a double-double with eight kills and eight blocks.
Jenna Woodard emerged the defensive leader with 30 digs.
The Bulldogs (20-4) return to action Saturday at perennial powerhouse Pender. First serve is 6 p.m.
