CHOCOWINITY -- Spring Creek punched in two second-quarter touchdowns, but couldn't keep the momentum in a 48-12, non-conference loss to Chocowinity Southside on Friday evening.

Logan Miller tossed touchdown passes to Jordan Hicks (8 yards) and Tre Hammonds (12) to trim the Seahawks' deficit to 14-12. But Southside extended its lead to 22-12 on a touchdown with three seconds left before halftime.

The Gators did not score in the second half.

Tre Hammonds and Jessie Casper paced Spring Creek's ground attack with 34 yards apiece. Miller completed three passes -- two to Hicks and one to Hammonds.

"The first half, we played good football. We just had some missed opportunities that were not taken advantage of," SC head coach Aaron Sanders said. "We played well in the third quarter. I had a player go down on the offensive line. When it's a senior and I have to replace him with a freshman, that's tough."

Spring Creek (1-3 overall) opens Carolina 1-A Conference play at home Friday against Lakewood. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. in "The Swamp."
