Corinth-Holders eases past C.B. Aycock

WENDELL -- Senior quarterback TJ Morrow accounted for 268 yards of total offense during Charles B. Aycock's 42-28, non-conference loss to Corinth-Holders on Friday evening.
The Pirates have won both regular-season meetings against the Golden Falcons.
Morrow threw for 159 yards and completed passes to seven different receivers. Jimmy Ellis led the receiving corps with 72 yards and a touchdown on four receptions. Micah Castillo hauled in a touchdown pass. Morrow rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown, and caught a 19-yard pass.
Chandler Matthews converted three PATs and tied Ellis for the team lead in receptions for the game.
Jaret Paynter paced the defense with nine tackles. Joshua Jones contributed seven stops, while Tyree McNair and Blake Merrill posted six tackles apiece. Aycock's defensive unit sacked CH quarterback Cole Sakowski twice and forced two turnovers.
Damien Darden returned a fumble 34 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter.
The Golden Falcons (3-2 overall) open their Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference schedule at home Friday against No. 3-ranked New Bern. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Hardy Talton Stadium.
