Princeton softball knocks off Camden

CAMDEN -- Charley Cox belted her second home run of the season and Princeton turned back Camden County, 6-4, in eastern semifinal-round action of the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 1-A softball playoffs.
The Bulldogs (19-4 overall) oppose Whiteville in the best-of-three eastern championship series. Game times and sites have not been announced.
Cox finished the day 3-for-4 with two RBI. Teammate Taylor Carroll batted 4-for-4 with a double and two RBI. The duo combined to score three runs.
Kortney Edwards contributed two hits. Carson Braswell, Tori Paul and Kelsey Peedin posted one hit apiece.
Paul and Hailey Wood combined for a seven-hitter inside the circle. Paul permitted two runs and recorded two strikeouts in four innings. Wood yielded five hits and struck out four in three innings.
Camden had one earned run.
Princeton extended its win streak to 13 games.
