Rams sweep ECC 2A baseball twinbill from Cougars

SNOW HILL -- Greene Central claimed a doubleheader sweep, 4-1 and 10-0, over Goldsboro in Eastern Carolina 2-A Conference action Thursday.
The Rams put the Cougars away with a four-run, fourth inning in the opener.
Chandler Barrow (two RBI) and Kevin Ormond each had two hits for GC. Justin Lee, James Headand Bailey Ormond had a hit apiece to round out the offense.
Nick Kearney recorded six strikeouts in a complete-game effort on the mound.
Cayce Herring got the start on the mound for Goldsboro and went the distance allowing two earned runs and striking out two.
Ti'wuan Hardy had two hits and scored the lone run for Goldsboro. Isaiah Core added the other hit for the Cougars.
In the nightcap, Greene Central (7-15 overall, 5-5 ECC) scored seven runs combined in the fifth and sixth inning of its mercy-rule win.
Graham Anderson had four hits and three RBI to lead the Rams' offense. Bailey Ormond and Will Creech had two hits apiece. Davis Wilson, Chandler Barrow, and Kevin Ormond contributed one hit each.
Kevin Ormond went the distance on the mound, striking out eight in six innings of work.
Damon Pate and Thomas Vick each had two hits for Goldsboro, which concluded the year 2-17 overall and 0-10 in the ECC. Miguel Lugo started on the mound and endured the loss.
