DUDLEY -- Kelsey Hayes cranked out a team-high three hits and scored four runs during Southern Wayne's 11-1, mercy-rule triumph over county and Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference rival Eastern Wayne on Friday evening.

Haley Warren (RBI) and winning pitcher Morgan Best (RBI) contributed two hits apiece. Keaton Bradley (RBI), Claire Kennedy (RBI) and Haley Brogden (two RBI) each had one hit.

Best threw a complete-game six-hitter and recorded four strikeouts inside the circle.

Brooke Morawski paced the Warriors' offense with three hits and scored their lone run in the top of the first inning. Trisha Bell, Debbie Mitchell and Emily Uzzell each provided one hit.

Uzzell took the pitching loss.

Southern Wayne (7-10 overall, 4-6 ECC) is the guest of J.H. Rose on Tuesday, while Eastern Wayne (0-14, 0-11) entertains Charles B. Aycock for senior night.
