PIKEVILLE -- Bobby Hampton's 16 strikeouts weren't enough as South Central stole a 3-1 victory over C.B. Aycock in Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference action Thursday evening.
South Central scored two unearned runs.
Garrett Joyner led Aycock's offense with three doubles and scored the team's lone run. The rest of the team combined for two hits against South Central's Tucker Jacobs.
"We couldn't get the big hit when we needed it," CBA head coach Charles Davis.
The Golden Falcons (10-9 overall, 5-6 ECC) face Mid-South 4-A member Pinecrest (13-4) in opening-round play of the Pitt County Classic on Saturday. Weather permitting, first pitch is 4 p.m. at South Central.
