NEWTON GROVE -- Freshman Keelin Hunter was a home run shy of hitting for the cycle during Rosewood's 14-3 throttling of Carolina 1-A Conference foe Hobbton.
Hunter singled, doubled and tripled in five at-bats. Alicia Burns added three hits.
But the Eagles started slow.
The Wildcats held Rosewood to just three total runs through three innings. Third-year head coach Shay Campbell made some position changes and the Eagles perked up offensively, scoring a combined 10 runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
Hailey Wood started in the pitcher's circle, and surrendered three hits and five walks in four innings.
Callie Thornton took over for Wood and earned the pitching win in a relief role.
"(We) struggled in the pitching circle," said Campbell. "We put too many runners on base with walks, which included several hit batters. We must do a better job throughout the remainder of the season."
Rosewood (7-2 overall, 6-2 CC) plays host to Lakewood on Tuesday. The Eagles will participate in the three-day D.H. Conley Invitational, which begins April 19 at the Sara Law Complex in Winterville.
