D.H. Conley trips up Southern Wayne

GREENVILLE -- D.H. Conley christened its new baseball stadium with a 9-3 victory over Southern Wayne in an Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference affair Friday evening.
Jake Pollard, Peyton Ahlers and Philip Sanderson each connected on RBI singles to help the Vikings build a 4-0 lead in the bottom half of the first inning.
Ahlers finished 3-for-4 with two RBI. Pollard and Turner Shafter provided one RBI apiece.
Ahlers claimed the mound win.
One day earlier, Southern Wayne dropped a 6-2 decision to ECC foe New Bern at Boykin Field.
Kevin Williams led the Saints' offense with two hits. Chris Reedy batted 1-for-2 with an RBI. Tyler Brock and Drake Sawh each had one hit.
Jackson Hayes suffered the pitching loss.
Southern Wayne (4-12 overall, 0-9 ECC)is the guest of South Central on Tuesday.
