Wayne Christian upends Grace Christian, routs Northwood Temple

SANFORD -- Tanner Rose collected three hits and two RBI as Wayne Christian upset No. 5-ranked Grace Christian, 8-5, in a Carolina Christian 1-A Conference game Saturday afternoon.
Hunter Burt added three hits for the Eagles, who improved to 5-2 overall this season. Brandon Price batted 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Tyler Mozingo contributed a hit and two RBI.
Ted Suggs went the distance on the mound for Wayne Christian. He yielded five runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks, and struck out four Grace Christian batters.
One day earlier, nine batters tallied at least one hit apiece during Wayne Christian's 15-2, mercy-rule triumph over CCC foe Northwood Temple.
Rose and Price combined for four hits and five RBI to lead the Eagles. Burt and Austin Howell also added two RBI apiece.
Howell allowed three hits, no earned runs and recorded 10 strikeouts in a complete-game performance.
