Kinston cruises past Goldsboro, 9-4

KINSTON -- Kinston plated seven runs in the fifth and sixth innings combined, and rallied past Goldsboro, 9-4, in an Eastern Carolina 2-A Conference game Friday.
Damon Pate led the Cougars with three hits and Cayce Herring added a season-high four RBI. Goldsboro had 12 hits as a team.
Herring endured the mound loss in 41/3 innings of work. He surrendered seven runs (four earned) on six hits. Miguel Lugo pitched in relief.
Goldsboro (1-9 overall, 0-2 ECC) entertains Ayden-Grifton on Tuesday.
