Frasier accepts invitation to US Army All-American Bowl

PRINCETON -- Johnny Frasier gets to visit the Alamo next winter.

The Princeton High School junior, who has received numerous Division I offers since last November, accepted an invitation to play in the prestigious U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas, next January.

Frasier is one of 90 prep all-stars selected for the annual game, which has been the launching pad for several current collegiate and NFL players.

"It's an honor to have Johnny selected to play in the Army All-American Bowl," second-year PHS head coach Derrick Minor said. "It gives honor to our armed service men and women, our community, our local veterans, our school and our football program.

"We are truly blessed for the opportunity."

The 5-foot-10, 200-pound Frasier rushed for more than 3,000 yards this season and etched his name into the N.C. High School Athletic Association record books. He scored a state-record 50 points with six rushing touchdowns, one receiving TD and a two-point conversion pass against Carolina 1-A Conference foe North Duplin.

Frasier ended the night with 410 yards rushing -- a single-game school record in PHS history.

Princeton concluded the year 9-4 overall after a loss to eventual state champion James Kenan in second-round action of the NCHSAA 1-AA (large-school) state playoffs. Since then, Frasier and Minor have been traveling throughout the Southeast and talking with some of the nation's top collegiate coaches.

Scholarship offers -- 18 in all -- have poured in from Atlantic Coast Conference, SEC, Big 10 and Pac-12 schools.

"It has been extremely busy, but I wouldn't change a minute of it," Minor said. "The exposure Princeton is getting for Johnny will also hopefully help our other athletes. This is what you dream of as a high school coach."

The history and tradition of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl is unparalleled, highlighted by Heisman Trophy winners and more than 200 NFL players counted among its alumni.

Frasier could be the next one.
