NEW BERN -- Charles B. Aycock launched its Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference season with a 46-30 loss at New Bern on Tuesday evening.
"(We) continue to improve with a young team," first-year CBA head coach RJ Allen said. "Our veterans put on a great show with Zack Howard, Trent Marquard, Matthew Teachey and Jacob Dickenson all winning with pins."
Of the 13 matches contested, 10 resulted in pins. The Bears won two close decisions and earned a major decision.
Freshman Josh Wallace improved to 8-0 after receiving a forfeit. Injured teammate Ryan Morton competed with a shoulder injury and dropped a two-point decision in overtime.
The Golden Falcons (4-4 overall, 0-1 ECC) play host to county foe Rosewood on Dec. 3.
