PIKEVILLE -- Trent Marquard and Josh Wallace logged back-to-back pins to help secure Charles B. Aycock's 42-39, non-conference triumph over Wilson Fike during a non-conference tri-meet Wednesday evening.

The Golden Falcons hammered Greene Central, 57-24, in their season-opening match.

"This is the youngest team I've ever coached since I started helping (former CBA head coach Kevin) Smith," Aycock assistant coach Mark Bass. "That's good for the future, but we're going to take some lumps this year. We'll be OK, though."

Aycock started seven freshmen against Fike.

Ryan Morton and Randy Floars posted back-to-back pins at 195 and 220 pounds. Matt Teachey drew a forfeit at heavyweight and after a loss at 106, the Golden Falcons' Tyler Marquard earned a forfeit.

That set up the night's premier match between returning state qualifiers Zach Howard and Zovek Chapa. The two 120-pounders combined for five cautions and Howard held a two-point lead in the third period before getting rolled to his back.

Chapa won 8-7.

"If you've got to lose, it's best to lose early and learn from it," Bass said.

Jacob Dickinson and Colin Brabham each earned a pin at 126 and 138 pounds. After Trent Marquard and Wallace won, the Golden Falcons forfeited the final individual match to the Golden Demons.

Wallace, Chris Barbour, Morton, Teachey, Tyler Marquard, Alex Johnson, Dickinson, Howard, JJ Jones and Trent Marquard each emerged victorious against Greene Central.

The Golden Falcons (2-0 overall) return to action in a six-team dual at Eastern Wayne on Saturday afternoon.
