Preps digest: JV, middle school news

JV sports
* Football: Kinston 34, Goldsboro 13 -- Goldsboro's Jordan Woody rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown on eight carries. Ronnie Tookes added a touchdown reception. Antonio Futrelle led the Cougars' defense with eight tackles.
Middle schools
* Football: Spring Creek 16, Norwayne 12 -- Nick Strickland had a 30-yard touchdown run and a two-point conversion for the Gators. Dominique Morse returned an interception 60 yards for a score. Gabe Barfield led the Spring Creek defense with six tackles. Josh Lebron had five stops. The Gators remained unbeaten in five outings this season.
* Volleyball: Rosewood d. Grantham 25-12, 25-17, 16-25, 25-21 -- Macy Tyndall led the Eagles with 10 aces. Rosewood (12-0 overall) travels to Norwayne next Wednesday.
* Volleyball: Norwayne d. Spring Creek 25-16, 25-15, 25-18 -- Norwayne (10-1 overall) entertains Mount Olive on Monday.
