STATESVILLE -- Statesville Christian notched the equalizing goal in the final five minutes and battled Wayne Country Day to a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon.
Ramel Carpenter notched a first-half goal off of Preston Edwards' assist.
WCDS head coach Steve Ellis said the Chargers carried their dominance into the second half and that Statesville's keeper played exceptional between the pipes.
Mirroring its contest 24 hours earlier at Hickory Christian, WCDS surrendered the game-tying goal late and exited its weekend trip with a 0-2-1 worksheet.
The Chargers continue their current five-game road swing at Grace Christian of Sanford on Tuesday. They visit archrival Wayne Country Day on Thursday, and open the home portion of their schedule Sept. 3 against Kestrel Heights.
