Robert Britt won't have to request a sideline pass for the N.C. Coaches Association East-West All-Star football game next season.

He'll coach instead.

Britt is one of two Carolina 1-A coaches, along with Hobbton's Steve Mallard, selected as an assistant for the 2014 affair in Greensboro.

"It was a surprise," Britt said. "I go to that game every year and now I get to coach in it. I was so excited when Mr. (Phil) Weaver called and extended the invitation to coach in the all-star game.

"It's an honor and I'm looking forward to working with the players and other coaches."

Britt becomes the second RHS coach, along with Daniel Barrow Sr., in program history to participate in the annual football contest. A total of nine players and coaches from Rosewood have either played or participated in either football or men's basketball during the prestigious mid-summer showcase.

Southern Nash's Brian Foster is the East's head coach. The remainder is his staff is comprised of Richard Bailey (Scotland County), Kim Cain (West Bladen) and Wes Mattera (John A. Holmes).

The West won, 14-7, this season.
