Trojans hire new softball assistant coach

MOUNT OLIVE -- Eric Lee, who helped Campbell University set a single-season stolen base record, has been named assistant softball coach at Mount Olive College.

Lee will serve as hitting coach and assist with recruiting.

"I'm extremely excited to bring in Coach Lee," MOC head coach Jaime Kylis said. "Not only will he be assisting with our potent offense, but he will also help develop our short game, which was among his duties at Campbell. He has great contacts in North Carolina and he's already been a big asset to us in recruiting efforts.

"As a head coach, it's a relief to have an extra pair of eyes looking at prospects and to be in two places at once."

A Campbell alum, Lee spent 2012-13 as a volunteer assistant coach for the Camels. He assisted with offense and fielding, as well as coached first base on game day. Campbell ranked fifth nationally among Division I schools with 118 stolen bases this past season, and cranked out 68 home runs.

Defensively, the Camels recorded a .960 fielding percentage.

Campbell finished the year 39-21 overall.

Lee joins a Trojan squad which advanced to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional tournament last season. MOC swatted a school-record 36 home runs and logged 34 victories.
