DUDLEY -- Another quick, effective summertime downpour gave Wayne County Post 11 an unexpected second straight day of rest.
But the inclement weather, which rendered the infield unplayable at Southern Wayne on Sunday afternoon, is causing headaches. Open dates have become scarce on Post 11's remaining schedule.
Wayne County athletic officer James Cox said Sunday's rainout against Windsor will now made up next Sunday when Post 11 travels to Windsor. The teams will play a doubleheader at 3 p.m. Each game will be seven innings.
Day-long rain forced the postponement of Saturday's home game against Albemarle-Elizabeth City. Cox said the teams have not agreed on a make-up date.
Wayne County (13-4 overall) is third in Area I East Division play at 5-3. Post 11 plays host to Creedmoor today. Game time is 7 p.m. at Southern Wayne.
