WCDS bows out of NCISAA 1A soccer playoffs

HICKORY -- Hickory Christian notched three second-half goals within a four-minute span and handed Wayne Country Day a season-ending, 5-0 loss in quarterfinal-round action of the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 1-A state playoffs Tuesday afternoon.
The Chargers trailed 1-0 at halftime.
"Hickory played a beautiful passing game," WCDS head coach Paul Casey said. "They were patient and worked our defense for quality chances."
Wayne Country Day finished the season 11-5-1 overall.
