Rosewood upsets SW Onslow in 1A softball playoffs

JACKSONVILLE -- Rosewood shocked Coastal Plains champion Southwest Onslow, 6-3, in second-round action during the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 1-A playoffs Tuesday evening.
The Eagles' Callie Thornton mashed a home run and finished 2-for-4 on the night. Kayla Hardee added two hits.
Overall, Rosewood tallied six runs on 10 hits and two walks.
Amanda Beckert faced 29 batters and permitted three runs on eight hits inside the pitcher's circle.
Rosewood continues play Friday at archrival Princeton, which swept the regular-season series in Carolina 1-A Conference play.
