MOUNT OLIVE -- First baseman Beth Overman, who helped lead Mount Olive to its first-ever NCAA tournament appearance, has been selected to the 2013 Daktronics Division II softball all-Southeast Region second team.
The team is voted on by College Sports Information Directors of America.
Overman ranked among the top 10 in Conference Carolinas in all three triple crown categories this past season. She batted .358, finished third with nine home runs and tied for fourth with 36 RBI.
The Trojans set a single-season school record for home runs (36) when Overman swatted a round-tripper against Columbus State in opening-round play of the Southeast Regional last week. The previous mark of 35 was established in 2008.
A sophomore from Elizabeth City, Overman mashed two grand slam homers this season. She was a second-team all-Conference Carolinas pick and led the Trojans' defense with a .983 fielding percentage.
MOC ended the year 34-15 overall.
