Aycock snaps playoff skid in girls' soccer

SHALLOTTE -- Charles B. Aycock earned its first N.C. High School Athletic Association 3-A state playoff win since 2004 with a 3-0 shutout of West Brunswick on Wednesday night.
Cheyenne Warrick scored two goals and tallied one assist to lead the Golden Falcons. Sabrina Johnson added one goal. Emily Borel and Miranda McHale each added one assist.
"This win has been a long time coming," C.B. Aycock head coach Kevin Adkins said. "Our girls really played well ... they earned it."
Alex Van Meir finished with three saves in the shutout.
C.B. Aycock (14-6-0 overall) visits Wilson Hunt in the second round. The game time is yet to be determined.
