Preps digest: JV, middle school news

JV sports
• Baseball: C.B. Aycock 7, Eastern Wayne 1 -- Caleb Smith finished with three hits for the Golden Falcons. Ryan Davis (two RBI) and Kyle Davis both had two hits. Lloyd Lowe (RBI), Cameron Kornegay (RBI), Trent Herndon (RBI) and Charlie Robertson provided a hit apiece. Robertson pitched a complete game and allowed one run on eight hits with six strikeouts and two walks to earn the win on the mound.
Middle schools
• Softball: Princeton 10, Benson 0 (5 inn.) -- Beth Braswell and Casey Mitchell combined for the shutout inside the pitcher's circle. Braswell had five strikeouts, while Mitchell recorded one punchout. Braswell led the Dogs' offense with three hits, including a double and triple. Haley Jones contributed two hits. Brianna Myers, Mitchell, Natalie Smith and Emily Ricks added one hit apiece. Princeton (8-1 overall) travels to North Johnston on Monday.
