Warriors obtain share of ECC boys' tennis crown

KINSTON -- Eastern Wayne's top-seeded duo of Chaz Fitzpatrick-Mitch Kaspar claimed the match-clinching point in a 5-4 triumph over North Lenoir at Bill Fay Park on Wednesday afternoon.
The Warriors (8-2 overall, 8-1 ECC) clinched a share of their second straight ECC regular-season championship.
Fitzpatrick-Kaspar turned back the Hawks' Evan Kramer-Will Hardy 8-1 in doubles. Fitzpatrick, Kaspar, Sawyer Thompson and Sam Biggs each picked up a singles point.
Matt Warren and Phillip Waltz collected North Lenoir's singles points. Waltz-Austin Worley and Warren-Josh Varnell each emerged victorious in doubles.
Eastern Wayne concludes regular-season play at home today against South Johnston.
