Southern Wayne knocks off Cleveland in 8 innings

DUDLEY -- Southern Wayne scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning and slipped past Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference foe Cleveland on Monday night.
Claire Kennedy led the Saints with two hits, including the game-winning single. Haley Warren also tallied two hits.
Warren got the win in the pitcher's circle on the strength of a complete-game effort.
Southern Wayne (7-8 overall) travels to Eastern Wayne today.
