TIGERVILLE, S.C. -- Tiffany Hawley slugged a two-run homer and Madison Johnston held North Greenville (S.C.) University to six hits during Mount Olive's 4-2 victory in the nightcap of a Conference Carolinas softball doubleheader on Monday.
The Crusaders won the opener, 3-2.
Johnston (4-1) shut down NGU after allowing a first-inning run.
MOC tied the game at 1-1 in the fourth inning without getting a hit and took a 2-1 lead in the sixth on Kalie Smith's one-out double. Hawley followed with her two-run homer.
The Trojans finished with four hits.
Defensive mistakes allowed the Crusaders to forge a 2-2 tie in game one. NGU grabbed the lead with three consecutive two-out hits in the sixth inning.
Mount Olive (24-8 overall, 11-3 CC) entertains Peach Belt member UNC Pembroke today and is the guest of league foe Barton on Thursday.
