Rosewood wins season-opening Carolina 1-A golf meet

AYDEN -- Rosewood finished 10 shots ahead of Princeton in the first Carolina 1-A Conference golf match of the season at Ayden Country Club.
Nick Adams earned medalist honors with a round of 79 for the Eagles. Andrew Henn (86), Josh Clark (87) and Dylan Champion (107) rounded out the Eagles' team total of 369.
"All of the teams seemed to be shaking off the rust of Spring break, but the conference season begun despite the hangover," Rosewood head coach Daniel Baynes said.
Joel Hines paced Princeton with a round of 91. The Bulldogs carded 379 as a team, one stroke ahead of Goldsboro. Matt Hall paced the Cougars with a round of 83.
Kyle Stone shot 83 to lead Spring Creek.
Steven Duprey tallied a 101 for North Duplin.
The Carolina 1-A Conference teams visit Southern Wayne Country Club next Tuesday afternoon.
