Simmons named to All-State team

Charles B. Aycock senior Tara Simmons has been named to the 2012 North Carolina All-State Girls' golf team by the Tarheel Youth Golf Association and the Carolinas Golf Association.
In October, Simmons repeated as the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 3-A state champion. She is the second athlete in school history to win back-to-back state titles.
Simmons is the first-ever Wayne County athlete to win consecutive state golf championships. She recently signed a national letter-of-intent with Dartmouth College.
