Rosewood girls defeat Spring Creek

PRINCETON -- Rosewood turned its most unselfish performance of the season and rolled past county foe Spring Creek, 68-19, during the third-place game in the 2012 Bulldog Christmas Classic on Friday afternoon.
The Eagles recorded 20 assists on 27 made field goals.
Play-making guard Krystal Yelverton distributed six assists. Reserves Logan Bill and Hayley Mercer came off the bench to hand out four assists apiece.
Freshman guard Lexi Mercer tallied 11 of her game-high 16 points in the opening quarter for Rosewood, which led 17-2 after eight minutes of play. Mercer earned a nod to the six-player all-tournament team.
Yelverton also contributed 13 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Holly Heath collected 13 points, including nine behind the 3-point arc. Hayley Mercer recorded 10 points, three rebounds, three steals and one blocked shot.
The Eagles (6-4 overall) stretched their advantage to 33-2 by halftime and head coach Ryan Wells substituted freely throughout the second half.
Alyssa Borja supplied 10 of her team-best 14 points in the fourth quarter. All-tournament pick Jazlyn Grimes chipped in two points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots. Teammate Tyasha Teachey provided three points.
