* Boys' basketball: Eastern Wayne 55, Goldsboro 41 -- Jaylin Thomas led a balanced Eastern Wayne attack with 13 points. Zeke Martin contributed 10 points. Darion Applewhite and Dameko Artis supplied nine and eight points, respectively. D'Onta Russell emerged the Cougars' top scorer with 12 points. Nashir Bowden (nine points), Delmonte Wells (eight) and Josh Wootson (six) also played well for Goldsboro. The Warriors (3-1 overall) play host to Wilson Hunt today, while the Cougars entertain county foe Southern Wayne on Friday.
* Boys' basketball: Wayne Country Day 62, Harrells Christian 31 -- Tyrique McClain paced the Chargers with 21 points. Corey Carpenter 13 supplied 13 points and Tony Townsend had 11. Wayne Country Day 3-1 visits Trinity Christian on Dec. 11.
* Girls' basketball: Wilson Hunt 41, C.B. Aycock 34 -- Quanika Lofton scored a team-high 19 points for the Golden Falcons. Emily Patnaude added 13 points.
