Northwood girls upend Wayne Christian

Wayne Christian rallied from a 10-point deficit but couldn't complete the comeback in a 45-40 loss to visiting Northwood Temple in the Carolina Christian 1-A Conference opener for both teams Tuesday evening.
Brooke Barfield paced the Eagles with 17 points and five steals. Kelsey Kornegay provided 15 points and 14 rebounds. Kaylee Wallace grabbed seven rebounds and Emily Wells had five rebounds.
Wayne Christian (0-1 overall, 0-1 CCC) returns to the court this weekend in a tournament at Cape Fear Christian.
