Walnut Creek LGA
* Hiromi Sueki claimed low gross during weekly play on the Walnut Creek Country Club links. Linda Cannon and Mary Morris seized low net and low putts, respectively.
Middle schools
* Football: Spring Creek 20, Eastern Wayne 14 -- The Gators' Chase Fields scored on touchdown runs of 32 yards and 1 yard. Fields also returned a fumble 50 yards for a score. Matt Dupuy connected with Melvin Frizzelle on a two-point conversion. Fields and Will Archer led the defense with five tackles. Dupuy and Jesse Casper each had four tackles. Spring Creek improved to 4-3.
* Volleyball: Rosewood d. Grantham 25-10, 25-10, 25-19 -- Matti Rose Lyon had six service aces and two kills for Rosewood. The Eagles (11-1) visit Mount Olive on Monday.
Youth sports
Neuse River Football League
12-Under
* Charles B. Aycock d. Grantham -- Luke Frederick rushed for 138 yards and two touchdowns. Jordan Woodard, Carson Smitherman, Dae-on Sims, Deshawn Owens, Xavier Eutsey and Blake Gipson each rushed for a touchdown. Gipson ran in a two-point conversion.
Hayden Gurley led the defense with seven tackles. Carl Floars and Kaleb Moore had four stops apiece. Chris Cook posted three tackles.
Aycock improved to 5-1 overall this season.
