Middle schools

* Football: Grantham 42, Mount Olive 0 -- The Bulldogs' Rikem Shepherd scored on a 52-yard touchdown reception and returned a fumble 40 yards for a score. Manny Walker supplied touchdown runs of 80 and 22 yards. Alex Thompson caught two touchdown passes and Jamere Randolph added a 54-yard touchdown run. Quarterback Nick Trolinger tossed three touchdown passes. Cody Craig and Nevell Horton each had an interception and Chris Hatch recovered a fumble. Grantham (6-0, 3-0 Wayne County Middle School Athletic Conference Division II) entertains Rosewood on Oct. 25.

* Football: Norwayne 36, Eastern Wayne 26 -- Norwayne's Tim Farmer rushed for 180 yards and two touchdowns. Caleb Gough, Kamarion Graham and Jake Flowers each supplied a rushing touchdown. Troy Barnes provided an interception and Chandler Matthews and Elijah Bryant both had a sack. Norwayne (5-1 overall) plays host to Spring Creek on Oct. 25.

* Football: Spring Creek 42, Brogden 0 -- The Gators' Chase Fields found the end zone on a 60-yard touchdown run. Jesse Casper contributed an 18-yard score and Matt Dupuy added a 15-yard touchdown run. Nick Russo scored from a yard out. Dupuy connected with Will Archer on a 42-yard touchdown pass and also threw a 5-yard pass for a score to Melvin Frizzelle. Gabe Barfield paced the defense with three tackles and two sacks. Spring Creek improved to 3-2 overall this season.

* Volleyball: Norwayne d. Dillard 25-7, 25-12, 25-3 -- Norwayne (10-0 overall) travels to Mount Olive on Monday.
