Boys' soccer

Wayne Christian 6, Lee Christian 1

* Wayne Christian overcame an ealry one goal deficit and rolled to a 6-1 win over Lee Christian on Friday night.

Chris Easom led the Wayne Christian attack with two goals and two assists. Austin Howell finished with two goals. Matthew Coulter and Matt Jackson each added one goal in the win. Baron Wise and Tyler Lacerda each tallied one asssist.

Wayne Christian (4-4 overall, 4-3 CCC) entertains Terra Ceia on Tuesday.

Greenfield 3, Wayne Country Day 0

* WILSON -- Greenfield did all the scoring and for the second consecutive game Wayne Country Day was shut out in a 3-0 defeat on Friday night.

Wayne Country Day (5-7-1 overall) will host Oakwood on Tuesday.

Girls' tennis

Nash Central 8, Eastern Wayne 1

* ROCKY MOUNT -- Eastern Wayne failed to figure out state-ranked Nash Central in an 8-1 loss on Friday afternoon.

Faith Sutton claimed the Warriors only point in singles play.

Eastern Wayne (12-2 overall, 10-0 ECC) entertains Triton on Tuesday.

North Duplin 8, Rosewood 1

* North Duplin emerged victorious on five of six singles courts and swept the doubles during an 8-1 victory over Rosewood on the Carolina 1-A Conference scene.

Julisa Quintanilla, Jazmin Quintanilla, Casey Thornton, Casey Whitted and Hannah Smith each captured a singles point. Jazmin Quintanilla-Thornton, Whitted-Smith and Mikitka-Batts completed the Rebels' sweep in doubles.

Deziree Baker grabbed the Eagles' lone point with a victory at No. 5 singles.

North Duplin improved to 5-2 overall and 5-2 against conference opposition this season.

Correction

* Information submitted to the News-Argus incorrectly stated the No. 1 doubles winner from the Goldsboro-Spring Creek tennis match on Thursday.

The Gators' tandem of Anna Haggerty-Emily Daniel prevailed 8-1 and remained unbeaten in five matches this season.

JV sports

* Soccer: Wayne Country Day 1, Greenfield 1 -- Hayes Gerrard scored the Chargers' lone goal. James Thompson registered 14 saves in the win. Wayne Country Day plays host Oakwood on Tuesday.

Middle schools

* Soccer: Wayne Christian 3, Lee Christian 0 -- Sawyer Hudson scored all three goals as Wayne Christian dropped Lee Christian on Friday. Holden Foster tallied one assist. Skylar Price finished with six saves. Wayne Christian improved to 5-1 overall.
