Preps digest: JV, middle school roundup

JV sports
* Volleyball: Rosewood d. Ayden-Grifton 25-20, 25-8 -- Kayla Hardee led the Eagles (15-2 overall, 5-1 CC) with eight assists. Callie Thornton added six kills. Jordan Martens had seven assists.
* Volleyball: Wayne Country Day d. Greenfield 25-5, 25-16 -- Tiffany Larsen supplied seven aces and four assists for the Chargers (2-11, 1-5 CPIC). Stephanie Schappell added four kills.
* Volleyball: North Duplin d. Goldsboro -- The Cougars fell to 4-11 and visit Rosewood on Tuesday.
* Volleyball: Princeton d. Spring Creek 25-11, 25-14 -- Sarah Ford had three assists for the Gators (5-6, 1-5 CC).
Middle schools
* Football: Norwayne 18, Dillard 8 -- Norwayne's Tim Farmer rushed for 200 yards and three touchdowns. Caleb Gough added 75 yards on the ground. Damien Darden hauled in a 30-yard pass from Jake Flowers. Darden, Elijah Bryant and Troy Barnes led Norwayne in tackles. Chandler Matthews and Bryant each recovered a fumble. Norwayne (3-0) visits Mount Olive on Oct. 4.
* Football: Spring Creek 32, Greenwood 8 -- Chase Fields led the Gators (1-1 pvera;;) with 165 yards rushing, four touchdowns and three two-point conversions. Gabe Barfield had a fumble recovery and Matt Dupuy and Austin Kornegay recorded five tackles apiece. Will Archer caught a pass on a two-point conversion from Dupuy.
* Volleyball: Norwayne d. Grantham 25-6, 25-18, 25-16, 25-9 -- Norwayne swept a doubleheader from Grantham on Thursday. Danika Powell provided eight aces. Norwayne (5-0 overall) travels to Eastern Wayne on Monday.
* Volleyball: Rosewood d. Greenwood 25-13, 25-18, 25-7 -- Matti Lyon had four aces and four kills for the Eagles. Rosewood (5-0 overall) entertains Grantham on Monday.
