MOUNT OLIVE -- Mount Olive senior Antonio Callaway became the third Trojan named to the Capital One Academic All-America Division II Baseball first team since 2008 -- and fourth overall -- after he garnered a spot in the 2012 outfield.
Callaway joins Carter Capps (2011) and current Trojan assistant coach Jason Sherrer (2008) as first-team selections. Josh Carter was the first MOC player recognized by Capital One in 2007 with a third-team spot.
An Atlanta native, Callaway is a 2012 All-Conference Carolinas first-team selection, 2012 Capital One Division II Academic All-District 3 first-team pick and the 2012 Conference Carolinas Baseball Scholar Athlete-of-the-Year with a 3.647 cumulative grade-point average in business management with a minor in human resource management.
Callaway ranks third in the nation (behind teammate Jacob Rogers) with 72 runs scored and is tied for fifth in stolen bases with a school-record 40 steals in 42 attempts. He also excels in the field, sporting a .985 fielding percentage with just two errors in 133 attempts.
