North Lenoir 3, Cleveland 0
* LaGRANGE -- North Lenoir defeated Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference foe Cleveland 3-0 on Thursday night.
Sophomore left-hander Landon Letchworth and senior right-hander Chastin Radford combined to throw a no-hitter. Letchworth pitched 61/3 innings with seven strikeouts and three walks to record the win.
Radford earned the save with 2/3 innings of relief.
Radford paced the Hawks with two hits. Mikal Batts (two RBI), Brian Hardy (RBI), Jake Olejniczak, Sammy West and Addison Harper each had a hit.
North Lenoir (7-4 overall, 5-2 ECC) entertains Southern Wayne on Tuesday.
Faith Christian-RM 12,
Wayne Country Day 6
* ROCKY MOUNT -- Wayne Country Day was haunted by seven errors in a 12-6 loss at Coastal Plains Independent 1-A foe Faith Christian-Rocky Mount on Thursday afternoon.
All seven of the Chargers' defensive miscues came during the fourth, fifth and sixth innings when Faith scored a combined eight runs.
Cole Davis supplied three hits and an RBI for Wayne Country Day. Mitch Turnage (RBI), Cody Neal, Thomas Kierski and John Strickland each added a hit.
Neal endured the loss on the mound.
The Chargers (2-6 overall, 1-1 CPIC) play host to Freedom Christian on Tuesday.
Boys' tennis
Southern Wayne 7, Triton 2
* Southern Wayne won five of six singles matches and claimed a 7-2 win over Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference opponent Triton on Thursday afternoon.
Alan Nunez, David Joyner, Andrew Medlin, Sam Henderson and Anuar Ramirez each earned a singles victory. The doubles teams of Brandon Outlaw-Nunez and Henderson-Ramirez also won.
The Saints (9-5 overall, 4-4 ECC) visit Rosewood today.
Softball
Beddingfield 9,
Southern Wayne 2
* WILSON -- Wilson Beddingfield capitalized on early-inning miscues and handed Southern Wayne a 7-2, non-conference loss on Thursday afternoon.
Savannah Wiggins, Hope Rose, Haley Warren, Madison Davis and Bradley had one hit apiece for the Saints.
Warren took the pitching loss.
Southern Wayne (3-11 overall) travels to North Lenoir on Tuesday. First pitch is 5 p.m.
Princeton 16, Goldsboro 0 (5 inn.)
* Princeton picked up a 16-0 win in five innings at Goldsboro.
The Bulldogs pounded out 19 hits.
Charley Cox and Danielle Best each had three hits. Megan Gerrell, Tori Paul, Kasey Edwards, Carson Braswell and Savanna Massengill each supplied two hits. Paul recorded the win in the pitcher's circle.
Bailee Ellis had the Cougars' lone hit.
Girls' soccer
Wayne Country Day 7,
Oakwood 0
* Catherine Ford scored three goals and handed out an assist as Wayne Country Day routed Oakwood 7-0 on Thursday.
Sarah Best, Margaret Tanner and Mollie McDonald each contributed a goal and an assist. Margaux Pope also provided a goal.
Goldsboro 2, Kinston 1
* Ana Harris and Dorian Wences each scored a goal, and Goldsboro knocked off Kinston 2-1 in non-conference action.
Holly Pittard provided one assist.
Head coach Gina Elmore said that goalie Sarah Moore, Maddie Vera and Krista McCoy gave a "great defensive effort" in the win.
The Cougars climbed to 2-4-1 overall.
Rosewood 2, Tarboro 2
* TARBORO -- Rachyle McAlduff converted a penalty kick in the final two minutes of regulation, and Rosewood salvaged a 2-2 non-conference draw against Tarboro at Viking Stadium.
The Vikings held a one-goal advantage before the Eagles' Marissa Hill picked up a bad defensive clear and connected on the game-tying goal in the 60th minute.
Tarboro (3-1-3 overall) scored in the 75th minute before a handball infraction inside the penalty area led to McAlduff's shot.
Rosewood (2-2-2) plays host to North Johnston on April 10.
Boys' golf
Warriors place second
* WILSON -- Eastern Wayne recorded a team score of 344 and finished second in a three-team match Thursday afternoon at Wedgewood Country Club.
Wilson Fike won the match with a score of 323 and Wilson Beddingfield was third with 350.
The Warriors' Caleb Jones earned medalist honors with a round of 74. Willis Underwood fired an 85 and Ty Schmeltzer finished with a 90. Hidematsu Sueki shot 95. Jacob Sauls (108) and Andrew Lockerby (118) rounded out Eastern Wayne's scoring.
Falcons tag Gators
* Charles B. Aycock defeat Spring Creek 359-424 in a non-conference match on Thursday afternoon at Lane Tree.
The Golden Falcons' Dylan Mitchell claimed medalist honors with a round of 82. Teammate Julian Billhardt cared an 87. Battle Lawrence shot a 90.
Dwayne Brown paced the Gators with a 98. Justin Price supplied a round of 101 and Tyler Ludlum finished with a 107.
JV sports
* Baseball: C.B. Aycock 15, Wilson Hunt 1 (5 inn.) -- Garrett Joyner and Noah West each collected two hits and two RBI for the Golden Falcons. Logan Runyon (two RBI), Ben Rouse (RBI), Jake Naughton and Braxton Leeper all provided a hit. Charlie Roberston earned the win on the mound. Aycock (10-1 overall) visits Triton today.
