* FARMVILLE -- Reed Howell doubled and scored a run in a 2-for-3 effort, but Rosewood dropped a mercy rule-shortened, 14-4 loss at Farmville Central on Friday afternoon.
Will Winslow tripled and walked for the Eagles in three official at-bats.
John Winslow (0-2) suffered the mound loss.
Rosewood (0-3 overall) is the guest of Dixon today.
Golf
Lane Tree Ladies GA
* Betty Jean Gurley and Susan Davis shared game-of-the-week honors during the season-opening event contested on the Lane Tree Golf Club links. Novella Zambelli emerged the low gross and low net winner, while Mary Ann Sutton claimed low putts.
Cathy Garris carded a 79 and seized first place in championship flight play during an Eastern League Ladies Golf Association tournament at Falling Creek CC. Linda Watson won low putts in the same flight.
Sutton took low putts in first flight.
Gurley was the low putts winner in second flight.
Middle schools
* Baseball: Rosewood d. Spring Creek -- Ethan Chapin recorded seven strikeouts in a perfect-game performance for the Eagles. Chapin and Kyler Bradley each batted 3-for-3. Derek Neal and Boone Moody provided two hits apiece. Rosewood improved to 3-1 overall this season.
